My Author Journey (August, 2018)

Last month was crazy for me, and this month is shaping up to be even crazier. Last week, my wife and I went to the Azores for our 20th anniversary, and it was gorgeous! I also managed to write over 10K words on the trip–my wife is so tolerant that way.

Other than that, my main focus has been on Death Warden. I will be pitching it at the Writer’s Digest Conference in a few days and start querying heavily after that. This is my first time to a conference like this, so it is both exciting and scary.

I’ve got lots of camping coming up with the family. Is it sad that our whole family brings Kindles canoe camping? I also bring a notebook of course. There is nothing like sitting in a hammock in the middle of Candian wilderness for peacful writing time.

Here’s what’s coming up on the blog this month:

August 14 — My Trip to the Azores!

August 21 — The Dragon’s in the Details. Establishing Setting in a Fantasy World, Case Study #2: The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson

August 28 — Love it. Review it. Give it away. This months giveaway will be a choice between two books by Ursula K. Le Guin: A Wizard of Earthsea –or- Steering the Craft: A Twenty-First-Century Guide to Sailing the Sea of Story.
