As I’ve been reading about writing, one piece of advice I hear repeatedly is to find a group to workshop with. I hope to be able to join a group in the near future, but in the meantime, I’ve started participating in the online sci-if/fantasy/horror critique site, critters.org. From what I’ve seen, it’s a great community. I just posted my first submission today, a short story called “Surrogates” about a group of children left nearly paralyzed by a virus that also gifts them enhanced mental abilities, which they can use to take control of animals. It should come up for review the last week of July if anyone wants to pop over to critters.org and give feedback. I also hope to submit my YA fantasy novel, The Goblin King’s Skull, to critters in the next couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to the input and then actually trying to get published!
